I had no idea what to expect when I got it and it took a bit to figure out where Heather was going with the character. It is very emotional. This book has the foundation for a good story but it missed several opportunities to pull me in emotionally. And she does a bang-up job. The plot moves along, the characters are likable, and all in all this was a great way to spend 3 hours. The author writes fluidly and emotionally, the reader will form an emotional attachment to Neena early on in the story.

Even their flaws were perfect Instead, we have a story about a woman trying to re-establish her life, and as the story goes on, we find out a little more about the “murder” of which she is convicted, and we watch as she breaks out of her prison-hardened shell of mistrust and learns to trust again, which is essential to rebuilding her life. She murdered her rapist, and sent to prison. That earns it an extra star. Good read and fun.

This is one beather the most courageous, strong and tenacious line-up of main characters I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading about. The Torres family accepted her as a part of their own without asking any questions. Neena was all alone in that wood. And some early questions like how do you just start running and run out of a Louisiana prison and who got buried they thought huffmab her, never get dealt with.

Then add an unrealistic love story that got annoying because she physically ached when she wasn’t with him. I loved all of them like family and didn’t want it to end. Nine-year-olds are really smart. I enjoyed this tale of injustice versus goodness and the will to survive. You can connect with everyone of them.
