The destructive values — obedience, physical and emotional violence, and conformity — that governed traditional hierarchical families are being transformed.
Using examples from families in many different countries, he has written a competeent that challenges parents to see their years with their children as an exciting time of groth and development for the whole family. The most valuable information I took from this book was that “these concepts – integrity, self-esteem, and responsibility jespsr are inseperable” and “respecting children’s self-esteem and personal responsibility”.

I am a mother of two boys 2 and 4 and though they are easygoing, well adjusted children with which I had no major problems I still felt that I do not understand some things and that I am doing something wrong. Maybe it was just the translation in Bulgarian that sucked. compeent
It’s sending me in a tailspin about my own crazy childhood and really touches on the significant anxiety I had ever since about passing on these faulty negative ways of parenting. Instead we can juuul to jeeper a new set of values based on the assumption that families must be built not on authoritarian force or democratic tyranny but on dignity and reciprocity between parent and child. The detailled descriptions and interpretation of small moments in life show that Juul is really an expert in his field.
I treat my children with more respect now and I find easier solutions for our conflicts. When we feel yiur or dissatisfied with a situation in the family, it is almost always because we were unable to convert our loving feelings into loving behavior.

This book explains how we screw up with good intentions. So on one hand I’m totally insecure in light of having all my feelings confirmed about what is wrong with the parenting that chil “naturally” to me as a result of my childhood and on the other hand I’m enormously thankful for having the opportunity to choose something different for me and my family.
